Brian is a combat infantry veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a 30-year veteran of the Texas Dept. of Public Safety with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science degree in Applied Psychology.

Brian has served Texas as a trooper, a SWAT team member, an organized crime investigator with expertise in undercover operations, a supervisor, district commander, major, and retired in June of 2023 at the rank of assistant chief.

In 2016, Brian authored the Department's first victim-centered operating procedure for Human Trafficking investigations. In 2019 Brian was awarded the Director’s Citation for his leadership in the implementation of the lifesaving Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) program. Brian was the primary author of the Department’s Use of Force policy in 2020, as well as the policy creating the Department’s Use of Force Review Board in 2022. Brian served as the board’s chair until Fall of 2022.
